FCM Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA)
The mission of the FCM Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is to support the development of each student, serving as a bridge between the ecological spheres of home, classroom, school, and broader communities. The PTSA fosters a vibrant, constructive and collaborative community of students, parents, teachers, and administrative staff, extending out to the community at large and holding the welfare of the child at the center. The PTSA acts to promote communication, participation, and mutual support for all members of the school community. Parents, staff, and students are all a part of the PTSA and volunteer their time generously. The PTSA sponsors and coordinates a large number of FCM events. The larger events include:
Additionally, the PTSA coordinates many smaller-scale activities such as passive fund raising, SCRIP, Friday recycling and Teacher Workday Luncheons. In all there is an amazingly large amount of work done by, for, or through the PTSA!
Highlights from the 2008-2009 School Year
As coordinators of FCM’s passive fundraising programs, the PTSA continued the Scrip program in 2008-2009 and saw brilliant success, thanks to the participation of the FCM community. The FCM community raised over $2000 through the purchase of full value gift cards. With these proceeds, the PTSA was able to provide two teachers with laptops and has over half the money for another laptop going into the 2009-2010 school year. With help from the students, the PTSA coordinated weekly collections of box tops as well as yogurt containers, granola bar wrappers, wine corks, and ink cartridges for various recycling programs. |
